Awesome Get in Gear Half and My Training :)

iphone photos 077Hello Everyone, Hope you had a great week!  My week was pretty darn good!!  Training was very good, got all my run in this week and they all seemed to go pretty well. I have been training on a Highway that is not very far from my house, sometimes I call it my road cuz I hardly ever see anyone else on it very much other than a few Bikers and the other day I saw both those guys, so that was fun to see someone out and about doing what they love too.  It a great road to run on, I’m so blessed to have it after running in the bigger cites with all the intersections and cars.  I’m never nervous, but I keep my eyes on the drivers because I have had a few people texting and so I m just watching out for my safety.  The nice thing about running this road.  Its close and quick for me, it takes me 2  minutes to drive there on gravel from my house.  Another great thing, Its has hills, it doesn’t look like it or seem like it.  They are long continuous inclines.  So I know I am getting good training on my road!! iphone photos 203 I am so lucky that the shoulder is so great, many roads I look at think thank goodness I have the road I have to run on.  It’s very windy out there, but that give me a great resistance workout as well.  I have been training on this road for years, through the winters and summers and falls and all, So thankful for it!! I am also so lucky to have the trail, it just takes me a little drive to get there, so I go there when I have more time!!    I also got a the New P90x3, so I started that and will do that when I am not running, I like it so far, excited to keep at it!!   I have got in 41 miles so far this week and not sure, my legs are a little sore after my half and extra run yesterday, not sure I’ll sun or not!!  Calls for a longer run next weekend, so that will be great!! 7 weeks till the big Marathons its coming fast.  I am loving my training and staying healthy.  The training is the Journey, the race is just he icing on the cake!!  Yesterday I got up early after my daughter’s softball team played late and went into 14 innings for one of their games.  So I didn’t get to bed early like I thought I was.  So I was a little nervous about how tired I was and I knew I wanted to get to my Race the GET IN GEAR half in Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis early to get parking right there!!  So I headed to the cities at 4:00 am.  I got there in Plenty of time got spot Had to wait to get my bib, so I thought I would run and get a few more miles on the day, through the pretty park. It was great, I have never ran before a race.  It felt like it really loosened me up and I made sure I just ran my normal 10 min mile pace to not wear myself out.  After that I felt great, got my bib and was ready to run this race.  I could feel that it was going to be better.  I’m very confident in my training right now, that winter was so tough, so I was not as confident with my last few half and the temps were so much colder as well, so that makes it tough too.  I was chatting at the start with some nice girls, that was nice, before I knew it was time to go.  We were off  and I was smiling I just had that Feeling Race Day Magic is every race day for me, but I felt more of the magic.  I kept  a nice pace to start out, a lot of people around to start as well.  Then I picked it up and ran every hill there.  I said I was not walking one hill at all goal of the day!!  I did it!!  I walked through some water stations for a few seconds, but I pushed hard but it felt right, that’s when I knew my training was going better.  I was feeling great the whole race, my one leg started to hurt a little at mile 10 but then went away, it was jut getting tired!!  The weather was great it was windy and a hilly course, some of the same course I run for all my Team Ortho races, so I knew it was going to be hilly!  I kept pushing and pushing and came to the awesome finish line with a big monitor and a huge flag flying from a fire truck, I was there and I knew it was a great race happy from the start.  This is my kind of race, wish they all were this good.  It made y day to hear my name called when I crossed the finish line and I did this race 13 minutes faster than my last Half on a lot of the same course!  I was smiling from ear to ear Happy. This was my 4th Official Half Marathon of 2014 consecutive months. I’m soing 14 Half marathons in 2014.  iphone photos 109 I was using this as a great training run and that it did.  10 min miles for 16 miles.   02:11:58 If you believe in yourself,  you can do it.  If you put in the time, it will show through 🙂  I got a great medal and Lime green tech shirt!!  iphone photos 108I walked back to my car, which was right there, I was so happy about that.  Did some stretched and headed home, it was such a great organized race the race id for the RIGHT of Spring!!  I will keep doing this race, it’s just a great way to kick off spring racing.  I am gearing up for another Half Next weekend in Lacrosse WI.  I love this race because it was my first Half marathon.  So this will be my 4th time running it!!  Make me smile!!  It will be my 24th Half now :))  So with one foot in front of the other, one mile after mile, one race after race, Its my passion 🙂  On my way to another Marathon and loving the Journey 46 days till Utah Valley Marathon 🙂

Marathon Monday and My Training :)

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great Easter, I sure did!! The Easter Bunny left me the best Chocolate Bunny ever!!  :))iphone photos 135 I got to spend the day with my family and then Golfing with my family in the afternoon ~ Great Day!! 🙂 iphone photos 190 It’s marathon Monday today a great Day to be in Boston.  The 118th Boston Marathon is going on right now!!  I could hardly wait to get up this morning to run and watch the broadcast all day.  I first ran 5 miles this morning in town today!!  It was misting on and off, but  felt kinda good, cuz I was dress too warm and was pretty hot.  The breeze felt good too!!  I ran for Boston on the 15th and today 🙂  When I first started running  I never even thought Boston was going to be possible.  I really never wanted to run it.  I was just running for fitness.  but now running has changed my life, I can’t go without it!! I don’t know when but If  I Believe in Myself I Know I can try to do this, I just have to commit to training a lot harder and a lot faster and maybe it’s not for me, but I think I have to give it a try!! Now that I have been running more and more each year I want to go there more and more! than ever.! Time will tell  ~ We all run as one in Boston 10302121_603164666440780_8318599120987274658_nI am so excited to be home today glued in front of the TV, working on my Sons Graduation Invites 🙂  I am a big Fan of Shalane Flanagan and I hope she can pull of the Win.  That would be so awesome for her!! She’s leading the race now!!  She has now fell way behind, my heart is heavy for her, I think she started out way too fast.  That is too bad cuz she has trained so hard for this and wanted it so bad.   Meb is leading the Men and has a pretty good lead.  The crowd will just go crazy if he wins this.  Its has been since 1985 since an American has won Boston 🙂  Go MEb Go!!  iphone photos 214

So back to my training this last week I was very happy with my Miles again this week.  I got in 43 miles this week all my runs and a great long Run.  I headed out to one of my favorite spots My RUN HAPPY spot!!  It was very windy but the valley protected me at some point. I was bummed my first long run and I forgot my Garmin, I love my Garmin, usually never run without it.  I have 3 so you would think I would remember one of them.  They are the best way to track you run pretty true.  So I put on an app that my sister uses.  I liked it but I knew I was not running the pace it said  I was and the mileage was a little off.  I knew what time I left and I knew the mile markers so I was going by that!!  I had to take one layer off, but then I was comfortable.  I ran really really strong the first half.  As I got to the 15 mile I was hurting pretty bad.  My leg and hip were so tight.  I pushed through, it was not easy but I did it!!  One foot in front of the other good times and in bad times.iphone photos 133  I was so happy to have that Run in and the best part of the Run, I found my friends Mr. Bald Eagles nest.  I saw him fly out of it,  I was in awe and smiling from ear to ear to know where his nest was.  I love seeing him down there Just makes my day!! I was Happy to have my long run in for the day since I knew the rain was coming.  I ran the Jelly Bean Races this week to Very Fun.  iphone photos 036I ran the 10K and the 5K .  The 5k I ran in the Pouring Rain, It was pretty warm out though so it did not bother me and I had a Hat on  I love to run in the rain.  I ran in the rain and storm last July a Half Marathon, it made realize I will not melt.  So with that a  I have 7 weeks of training left till I run Utah Valley Marathon.  I am very happy where I am at this point.  I have been hearing a lot of stories of marathoner and Half marathons Collapsing at the finish line, some dying and that is so sad it breaks my heart.  People are saying that  maybe those people are not ready for that distance.  alot of people think they can run these races without the proper training.  As a Runner as a marathoner I know I need to run the miles in order to finish and finish strong.  That is why I did not run the marathon I signed up for in April, life got in the way and its a good life so I was not upset.  There will always be another marathon to run and if I’m not ready I am not going to try to pretend I am ready.  As I am writing this I am getting Text alerts from the Boston Marathon from some running friends I have met who are there running.  It is so cool.  A great week of training coming up and I got a new some new workouts in the mail to try I will let you know as soon as I get into it more.  Starting today!!  I am so excited for the next 2 weekends of Half marathons.  My April and May Official halfs and 4th and 5th of this year 2014 ~ 14 in 2014 Quest :))  I am just on my Journey of running and I love it!!  One mile at a time on my way to Utah Valley marathon :))

Did I Just Run in a Tank top and Now its snowing!!

Hello Everyone, It was a pretty darn good week of Running and training.  The eating part was really good all week from Monday Friday and then I went away for the weekend ugh, I was not good on Saturday and today I was not good either, ugh is right.  Time to get on track and stay on track no more weekends away for a while so that is good for eating healthier for me.   I tend to stay on track at home better!! I feel like a weekend away is like a free pass.  I need to stop doing that and take charge of that, but I’m just so happy to be out with friends and not cooking I just order whatever I want!!  My goal this week is to have a good week all week even on easter, I can do this!!  As far as running, very happy with my runs, I was so happy that this schedule called for fewer miles this week and a longer run in  the middle of the week.  Absolutely perfect for this week since I had a busy weekend with my Daughter and her volleyball and my son just got home from his Class trip!!   I was absolutely giddy this week I finally got to get back out to one of my favorite spots to Run.  My run Happy Spot, this is a picture of it Last Summer so lush and Green Just love it!!  148709_10150938774859819_1214581366_nSo here is a Picture of what it looks like now, which I love too, cuz I get to watch everything grow up to be this and it’s so awesome!!iphone photos 101

I was just in my glory, I could not wait to get off work to go out there to run, it was 60 degrees our first day it has been this warm, it was Very windy though so I knew down on the trail it would be a lot less windy, it was great I was in a tank top and could not be happy you can tell by my face pure happiness,  all was right in the world!!  Just free on this trail, run went really good, taking one mile at a time and really focusing on that. iphone photos 064So I was in a tank top and my sparkle skirt and I was a littlee sweaty and it felt so great, but not too hot just perfect for running. I got 7 miles in the first run out there.   I don’t always get down to the trail as much as I would like to cuz it gets so busy and it take 15 mins to get there and 15 to get back home, so sometimes its hard to fit into the schedule.  I am going to try harder to fit it in though, make time for it, just like everything else.  If its important to do it you will find a way.  Sometimes I just think it might be easier to jump on the treadmill, but i love the beauty of the outdoor and I push so much harder outside.   It’s just so peaceful, you can let everything go.  Run in that moment and just be free and be yourself!!  I talk to birds and squirrels and I just love it!! iphone photos 071So the next day was going to be another nice day and I had a 13.1 miler to do and it was a little cooler like 54 degree and it was windy again.  So I went back down to the trail and ran my Half marathon and used it as my Virtual Unleash my inner Wonder Women.  I love Wonder Women always have so I for sure had to have this medal.  It was a great run and I got to wear my wonder women stuff!!  It was great and my medal had Glitter on it as well~ PERFECT!!  I was very happy with this Half I pushed hard on my owe and did not back down. My goal was to finish under 2 hours and 10 minutes.  I did it in 2:09:10  which was pretty cool.  I have 2 kids and ones birthday is on the 9th and one on the 10th 2:09:10.  I was thrilled to be in a tank top and skirt again and I was skipping to the car and what fly over but Mr bald eagle, He made my day.  I had been wondering where he had been, so glad he came to say Hi to me before I Left.  I also saw Mr. Bluejay.  Love seeing those birds down there!!   iphone photos 115 On this run I also thought about my son graduating and Wondering how he was doing on his 10 day class trip, I was missing him pretty bad by this day 6 but I knew he was having the best time though, so that made me happy.  I was very happy to get home tonight and see him.   He shared a little with me, I am hoping to get more stories out of him.  I was one Happy Mom to have my whole family back together again tonight and just cherish the times we are all together I do know that there are not going to be as many of them times left.  I have a full week of miles and training I got more workouts in this last week and hope to get more workouts in this week as well as runs, So happy I’m home this weekend!  So with that I took a  day off and rested my legs today just what my body was needing and I am ready to run again tomorrow!!  Mile after mile, training after training on my way to Utah and Twin Cities Marathons even if its snowing out again, The snow is not going to stop this Glitter Girl  🙂
